    Tucson Part Time Driver and Part Time Lot Attendant

    Job Description




    This position contributes to the profitable growth of ComTrans by ensuring ComTrans vehicles are clean inside and out and assisting the maintenance team with tasks as needed and identified and acting as a part time driver.



    This position works with their direct Supervisor and local Manager in maintaining vehicles as directed which include washing and cleaning vehicles, completing vehicle inspections, moving vehicles as directed for repair, and performing light office maintenance, and maintaining office supplies as needed and directed. This position is also a part time driver.


    EMPLOYEE STATUS: Regular: Full-time; $11.50 hourly / non-exempt position.



     Education:  High School Graduate or equivalent preferred but not required.

     Age: All ComTrans employees must be at least 18 years old, all driving positions are required to be at least 21 years old as required by insurance.  Exceptions may be made for non-driving positions on a case-by-case basis and dependent upon the position and its responsibilities.



     Valid AZ driver’s license.  

     Approved by our insurance company as a driver.


    Company Provided Training/Certifications

    Have or be able to obtain a level one fingerprint clearance card

    First Aid/CPR 

    Crisis Prevention and Intervention.

    Complete ComTrans Driver Certification Training Program.


    Additional Certifications: Some positions at ComTrans require additional certifications when operating vehicles with a design capacity for 8 or more passengers.

     Must be certified through Comtrans to drive 15-passenger and wheel chair vans.

     Able to pass a Department of Transportation physical exam initially and upon expiration. 

     Complete ComTrans certification program to operate a vehicle with a design of 8 or more passengers.

    The Lot Attendant must be able to:

    Physical Requirements:  

    The physical demands are representative of those who can:

     Able to stand on their feet for extended periods of time.  

     Able to get in and out of vehicles safely

     Stoop, kneel, crouch and reach extending arms.  

     Able to lift and/or move 50 pounds.  

     Able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions

     Ability to stand, climb stairs/steps, escort clients to and from destination, kneel, crouch, reach and extend arms.

     Sit in a driving position from 1 to 12 hours.

     Able to get in and out of vehicles, assisting clients in and out of the vehicles multiple times each day.

     Able to bend, kneel and secure wheelchairs and clients multiple times per day.

     Ability to carry child seats and place in vehicles.  May also be required to install child seats into vehicles and secure children into child seats.

     Able to perform vehicle pre and post trip inspections daily and on any vehicle



    The responsibilities of this position shall be directed by local Supervisor or Manager and may include however are not limited to the following:  Lot Attendant Responsibilities:

     Maintain the parking lot and office grounds ensure trash is deposited in appropriate trash receptacles, empty trash in to dumpster.

     Maintain wash bay and ensure organized, products are labeled appropriately, area clean and hazard free.

     Conduct light office maintenance as needed (change light bulbs, clean windows inside and out as needed, empty main trash cans inside office each day (driver

    area/kitchen), assemble items as needed and ability allows, assist with placement of office items (shelving units, etc.) other duties as identified.

     Ensure company vehicles are cleaned and according to schedule.  This includes washing the exterior, windows, tires and rims.  Interior of the vehicle needs to be vacuumed, dashboard, doors, mirror, windows cleaned.

     Maintain needed cleaning supplies for drivers and keep product available to drivers as needed.  

     Maintain and coordinate ordering of supplies that include but not limited to; all cleaning supplies, paper towels, toilet paper, light bulbs, laundry supplies.  This does not include paper, toner, pens, etc. (office supplies)

     Provide light maintenance on vehicles as required (topping off fluids (oil, window cleaner, brake and transmission fluids), check tire pressure and tire safety (safety issues are to be addressed immediately) 

     Maintain inventory of all car seats.  Provide drivers with needed seats, ensure these are returned.  Report missing car seats to office manager/supervisor

     Maintain supply of ComTrans shirts-ensure variety of sizes


    The following duties as needed and directed by Supervisor or Manager

     Assign vehicles to drivers based on client capacity needs for driver, update dispatch system to reflect assigned vehicle to specific driver.

     Schedule vehicle maintenance (routine/preventative and urgent/major repairs) with vendor and shuttle vehicles to and from vendor.

     Provide drivers with urgent response time when notified of driver breakdown during assigned schedule, ensure driver has replacement vehicle to continue work.

     Document all maintenance utilizing existing database, track all vehicle work that is or will be done.

     Ensure all maintenance/repair invoices are sent to ComTrans Fleet Manager, copy maintained in local file.

     Communicate vehicle needs with ComTrans Fleet Manager

     Shuttle vehicles from Tucson base to appropriate mechanic shop as well as bringing vehicles to Phoenix and taking vehicles back to Tucson

     Work closely with ComTrans Fleet Manager regarding required state vehicle inspections (emissions, etc).

     Review driver vehicle inspections sheets daily and take immediate and appropriate action as needed regarding vehicle issues.

     Keep Management/Supervisors informed regarding compliance with inspection sheets.

     Maintain vehicle files to include driver inspection sheets, maintenance logs, oil changes, etc.

     Ensure all vehicles have current and valid insurance and registrations in vehicle

     Remove vehicles from service when identified safety issues exist

     Responsible for driver phones including assigning, suspending, and troubleshooting.  Ensure backup supply of phones available at all times.

     Transport ComTrans clients in ComTrans vehicles when required.

     Other duties as requested by direct Manager.

    Routine Driver Responsibilities

     Document transportation issues using professional documentation practices.

     Ensure the safety of clients at all times.

     Escort all clients in to destination sites.

     Practice defensive driving at all times.

     Communicate all issues to the program manager immediately.

     Conduct vehicle check prior to start of day.

     Maintain a safe work environment.

     Use appropriate car seats as needed and required by law.

     Communicate with dispatch, supervisors, and managers regarding all incidents/accidents.

     Ensure vehicle clean at all times.

     Complete all required paperwork daily and turn in daily.

     Able to plan route for next day based on manifest provided

     Ensure vehicle assigned have required supplies (maps, driving directions, vehicle driver identification, fire extinguisher, car seats as needed)

     Ensure all paperwork is completed; accurate and turned in at the end of each sifts.

     Other duties as assigned



    This position reports directly to the Tucson Supervisor and Manager when needed.
