    Job Title:    Lead Mechanic       FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt

     

     

    SUMMARY:   The Fleet Services Supervisor is responsible for the overall direction and administration of the Fleet Maintenance. Responsibilities include managing diverse personnel in the fleet maintenance department. Operations analysis, reporting and program compliance with company and trade standards.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Reviews, verifies, approves and/or submits for approval invoices and purchase requisitions related to fleet maintenance. 
    • Maintains appropriate budgetary costs for fleet maintenance.  
    • Monitor and maintain appropriate city, county, and state licensing with appropriate agencies. 
    • Monitor training of vehicle service technicians. 
    • Oversee in-house and contracted vehicle maintenance operations ensuring compliance with company standards on preventative maintenance and repair. 
    • Coordinate vehicle equipment repairs with operations staff. 
    • Responsible for maintaining appropriate stocked quantities of common auto parts for current fleet. 
    • Monitor and maintain current vehicle licensing and registration with local and state regulating agencies. 
    • Track, analyze and report unscheduled vehicle down time. 
    • Analyze mechanical and operations problems of fleet vehicles. Consider service provider and take corrective action. 
    • Inspect and review company vehicles on a routine basis to ensure compliance with AMR standards for fleet appearance, safety and performance and compliance with regulatory agency specifications. 
    • Inspect vehicle service work areas and procedures to maintain workplace safety. Reports safety concerns to the Director of Safety for appropriate action. 
    • Prepare and compile various periodic reports and documents for review and analysis by executive staff. 
    • Review and recommends vehicle replacement selection and assists in development of replacement schedules. 
    • Assists Director of Operations with vehicle procurement, design, specifications and vendor communications. 
    • Coordinates receipt, delivery and preparation of new vehicles for deployment. 
    • Be able to be “ On-call” when needed.    

     

    NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    High school diploma or GED.

    Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel software programs.

    Two (2) years of supervisory experience.

    Knowledge of inventory control and vendor relations.

    Knowledge of vehicle maintenance scheduling practices.

    Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Effective interpersonal skills.

    Must have strong organizational skills.

    Experience in managing multiple projects, prioritizing and meeting deadlines. Excellent follow through abilities.

    Needs own set of hand tools.

    Willing to be “On-Call”

    Must have or achieve A.S.E. certification in the following Engine Repair, Tune-Up & Diagnosis, Automatic Transmissions, Manual & Drive Line, Electrical, A/C, Brakes, and Steering & Suspension within 18months of date of hire.
